EGR Only or the Full Package

If your EGR cooler has failed and the rest of the emissions system is still healthy, the standalone valve and cooler kit handles the job without touching your exhaust. Owners who are already seeing DPF or DOC problems generally do better addressing them together, since the systems interact and the labor overlaps heavily. Your other decisions are pipe diameter, where 4" suits most stock-turbo L5P trucks and 5" gives more room on built setups, and whether you want a muffler. The 3.5" downpipe spec appears on several kits because the L5P uses a different downpipe size than earlier Duramax generations. Year coverage varies between listings, with some running 2017-2019 and others through 2026, so read that line before ordering.
