What AMDP Tuning Is and How It Reaches Your Truck

AMDP tuning for the 6.7L Power Stroke is a custom, file-based tune. You load it through an EZ Lynk Auto Agent that plugs into the OBD port and connects to your phone. There is no ECM removal and nothing to ship to a shop.

Packages are year-specific. EngineGo lists separate AMDP packages for 2011 through 2019, 2020 through 2022, and 2023 through 2026 F-250 to F-550 trucks, plus support upgrades for owners moving from limited to full support. Important: A 2016 truck needs the 2011 through 2019 package, not a later one. Confirm your year, cab, bed, and hardware before ordering.

Who Sells AMDP Tuning, What Does It Cost, and How Long Does It Take?

EngineGo sells AMDP packages for the 6.7L Power Stroke, with free shipping within the continental United States. Price depends on model year and support level, so the product page is the source of truth. A number quoted in an article goes stale fast.

A custom tune is built around your truck's details, so it is not an instant download. Turnaround depends on how quickly you send accurate information and how busy the tuner is. The product page lists current expectations. Have these ready when you order:

  • Year, cab, bed, and transmission
  • Every hardware change, including turbo, injectors, exhaust, and intake
  • Your intended use: towing, work, or off-road and race builds
  • Whether you already own an EZ Lynk device

How Good Are AMDP Tunes?

No single tuner wins for every truck. A tune is only as good as the match between the file and your hardware. A mild tune on a stock truck behaves very differently from an aggressive file on a modified one. If you are weighing AMDP against Proven Diesel or other names, compare the delivery platform, the support model, and how each handles your exact year. Ask what happens if you need a revision after a hardware change.

How Much Power Does a Tuned 6.7 Power Stroke Make?

Start with the factory rating. It changed several times:

Model Years Factory Rating Transmission
2011 (early build) 390 hp, 735 lb-ft 6R140
2011 (updated) through 2014 400 hp, 800 lb-ft 6R140
2015 to 2016 440 hp, 860 lb-ft 6R140
2017 440 hp, 925 lb-ft 6R140
2018 to 2019 450 hp, 935 lb-ft 6R140
2020 to 2022 475 hp, 1,050 lb-ft 10R140
2023 and newer Standard 475 hp, 1,050 lb-ft; High Output 500 hp, 1,200 lb-ft 10R140

Ford raised the early 2011 rating with a software update shortly after launch. In 2015 it replaced the DualBoost turbo with a single-sequential turbo. Gains from a tune depend on the year, the tune level, the fuel, the hardware, and how the power was measured. Dynos read differently, and wheel numbers are not crank numbers. Ask for dyno sheets from trucks that match yours, and be wary of any single number promised for every truck.

What Does a Tune and Delete Cost, and How Long Does the Work Take?

A tune is one line on the bill. A full setup can also include a DPF delete pipe or downpipe-back exhaust, an EGR delete kit, a CCV reroute kit, and labor. Time varies by platform and by your experience. Plan for a full day or more if this is your first time under the truck.

Important: Delete hardware is intended for off-road, race, or non-public-road use where permitted. Use jack stands, let the exhaust cool, and consider professional installation. The legal section below explains why compliance deserves a close read.

How Much Power Can the 6.7 Transmission Handle?

Torque is usually the stress on the transmission, not horsepower. The 2011 through 2019 trucks use the 6R140. The 2020 and newer trucks use the 10R140. A tune can adjust shift behavior and line pressure, which helps clutches hold under added torque. Ford does not publish a limit that fits every truck, and neither does any tuner. Fluid temperature, towing weight, and service history all move the real limit.

The 10R140 needs extra attention on 2020 through 2022 trucks. Technicians widely report a failure where the bushing inside the CDF clutch drum shifts and blocks hydraulic passages. Symptoms include harsh or flared shifts, delayed engagement, and ratio codes. Ford has since updated the drum with a retaining lip. Before adding torque to an early 10R140, ask a Ford dealer or transmission shop whether your unit has the updated part. If shifts are already rough, fix that first.

At the 1,000 horsepower level, a stock transmission is no longer the plan. That is a built-transmission conversation.

Is the 6.7 Power Stroke Faster Than the 6.7 Cummins?

It depends on the truck, the tune, the gearing, and the weight. Online head-to-head claims often compare dyno sheets from different dynos on different days. Pick the platform you want to own for parts support, towing rating, and service access. Then tune it for your use.

Which 6.7 Power Stroke Years Should You Buy or Avoid?

No year is perfect, and condition matters more than a model year label.

  • 2011 through 2014: Earlier trucks have more owner reports on EGR cooler and DPF system issues, and the original DualBoost turbo is a known concern when tuned. Check service records.
  • 2015 and 2016: Many owners regard these as strong years. Check the fuel filters, the lift pump, and any leak history.
  • 2020 through 2022: A recall covers the CP4 high-pressure fuel pump on certain trucks, and early 10R140 units carry the CDF drum concern above.

Run your VIN through NHTSA's recall lookup before you buy any year.

Fuel System Risks: CP4 Pump and Filter Housings

The CP4 high-pressure pump depends on the diesel itself for lubrication. When lubrication breaks down, internal parts wear and shed metal debris, which travels through the rails and injectors. A full cleanup can mean a pump, rails, injectors, lines, and tank work.

Ford issued Safety Recall 24S78 (NHTSA 24V957) for certain 2020 through 2022 Super Duty trucks. Confirm it was completed before you raise fueling demands with a tune.

Aftermarket disaster prevention kits do not stop a CP4 from failing. They isolate the pump's case fuel and route it through a dedicated filter so debris stays out of the injectors and rails. Confirm any kit fits your year.

Filter housings matter too. Ford recall 22S01 (NHTSA 22V013) covers 19,697 certain 2021 trucks with a void in the secondary fuel filter cap that can grow into a pinhole leak. Warning signs include a fuel odor, an underhood leak, or a check engine light with P008A. NHTSA's PE24-014 evaluation looks at secondary filter leaks on 2015 through 2021 trucks. A tune adds fueling demand and underhood heat, so inspect the housing and lines first. Follow the owner's manual for fuel filter intervals, shorten them if you run questionable fuel or tow hard, and install filters carefully.

What About "Bulletproofing," Fuel Economy, and Emissions Hardware?

"Bulletproofing" comes from the 6.0L, where owners fix the oil cooler, EGR cooler, head studs, and FICM. The 6.7 is a different engine. Protecting it mostly means the fuel system, correct fluids, and regular maintenance.

Fuel economy swings with load, speed, tires, and driving style. A tune can move it either way, so track your own fill-ups before and after.

If your truck keeps its emissions equipment, more fueling means more soot. Watch DPF regeneration behavior and EGR cooler health. Added crankcase vapor can also coat the intercooler piping. A tune does not remove the need to maintain those systems.

Check These Before You Order

  1. Confirm your exact model year and transmission.
  2. Pick the package for your year range and support level.
  3. List every hardware change on the truck.
  4. Check your VIN for open recalls, and inspect the fuel filter housing.
  5. Check your state and local rules for your intended use.
  6. Review shipping and the 45-day authorized return policy. Tuner products may carry stricter return limits.
