Exhaust and the LLY Heat Problem
The LLY's reputation for high coolant temperatures under load traces mostly to the turbo mouthpiece restriction and the cooling stack, not the exhaust behind the turbo. Reducing restriction downstream helps, but it is not the whole answer, and anyone selling you an exhaust as the fix for LLY overheating is overselling it. If towing temperatures are your actual problem, the intake side and cooling system deserve attention alongside this. What the 4" downpipe-back does deliver is less restriction through the run and a different sound. It comes without a muffler, so it will be considerably louder than stock. On a truck you drive daily, that is a real consideration. Confirm your cab and bed configuration against the listing before ordering.
